"110 years ago, Yerevan became a place of salvation, accepting refugees who survived the Armenian Genocide." Mayor

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan sent a message on the 110th anniversary of the Genocide.

“Dear compatriots,

Today, we commemorate the memory of our 1.5 million victims. One hundred ten years ago, Yerevan became a place of salvation, accepting refugees who survived the Armenian Genocide and organizing assistance.

Despite the heavy blow of the Genocide, the Armenian people had the will and ability to establish their independent state. A state that we have the historical good fortune to have today, and with our daily efforts, will, and suffering, we must strengthen and strengthen it, facing all challenges. With the bitterness of the past in mind, we must think about the future.

Any state is viable in an environment of peace and mutual understanding, which, of course, will not erase the grief, but will prevent new tragedies, in memory of the martyrs and for the happy future of those who live for it.”
