President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, had a telephone conversation with President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
Antonio Costa congratulated Aliyev on the signing of the declaration between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the initialing of the peace agreement, and the establishment of interstate relations, as well as the achievements related to the regional transport corridor in the presence of the US President in Washington.
The President of the Council of the European Union stressed the importance of these results in terms of ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region. He noted that the European Union is ready to provide support in the process of implementing the agreements reached.
Highlighting the achievements in Washington, Aliyev considered the role of US President Donald Trump to be special in this regard. He emphasized the importance of the agreement for unhindered transport and communication between the central part of Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan.
