Shell will not buy British Petroleum

Shell denies it is considering a bid for British Petroleum. The company stated that UK regulations prohibit it from making a takeover bid for BP for six months.

On Wednesday, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that Shell was in talks to acquire BP. In response, Shell said no such talks were underway.

“In response to recent media speculation, Shell would like to clarify that it has not actively considered making a takeover bid for BP and confirms that it has not approached BP or held discussions about a potential offer,” Shell said in a statement.
