Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has criticized the EU's migration plans and rejected Ukraine's application for membership.
"If we integrate Ukraine into the European Union, we will integrate war. We do not want to be in a single community with a country that is at war and poses an immediate threat to us. If an EU member is at war, it means that the EU is at war, and we do not want that," he said.
Asked if his position would change in the event of reconciliation, he replied, "Yes, but there is no reconciliation."
Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin has strongly criticized Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's stance against Ukraine's membership in the EU, calling it "deeply regrettable" and "problematic."
He stressed that Ireland will continue to persuade Hungary to support Ukraine's accession process, as EU membership has played a crucial role in Ireland's development, and he does not want to hinder the aspirations of other countries to join the EU.
