Israel confirms it has agreed to a US proposal for a bilateral ceasefire with Iran but will "respond firmly" to any violation of the truce. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said the prime minister met with the cabinet, defense minister, IDF chief of staff, and Mossad chief "to report that Israel has achieved all the objectives of Operation Rising Lion and much more," Israeli media reported.
"Israel has eliminated a dual immediate existential threat, both nuclear and ballistic missile," the statement said.
According to the statement, "the Israeli army achieved complete air control over Tehran's skies, inflicted serious damage on the military leadership, and destroyed dozens of Iranian central government targets." The statement also noted for the first time that another senior nuclear scientist had been killed.
"Even in the past day, the IDF has carried out major strikes on regime targets in the heart of Tehran, eliminating hundreds of Basij operatives, the regime's repressive apparatus, and killing another senior nuclear scientist," the statement said.
"Israel thanks President Trump and the United States for their defense support and their participation in eliminating the Iranian nuclear threat. In light of achieving the operation's objectives, and in full coordination with President Trump, Israel has agreed to the President's proposal for a bilateral ceasefire," Netanyahu's office said in a statement.
