The UN nuclear watchdog has ruled that Iran has failed to meet its nuclear commitments for the first time in 20 years.
The decision could lead to further tensions and set the stage for a push to reimpose UN sanctions on Tehran later this year.
The resolution was voted in favor of 19 countries on the International Atomic Energy Agency’s board of directors. Russia, China, and Burkina Faso voted against it, 11 abstained, and two did not vote.
“Iran’s failure to meet its commitments since 2019 constitutes a breach of its commitments,” the draft resolution states.
