Some US embassy staff and their families will be evacuated from Iraq due to increased security risks, writes the BBC.
"We are constantly assessing the number of staff needed in our embassies. Based on the latest analysis, we have decided to reduce our mission presence in Iraq," a US State Department spokesman told the BBC.
The move follows talks between the US and Iran.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday evening, Trump confirmed plans to partially evacuate American personnel from the Middle East amid tensions in the region.
"Yes, they are being pulled out because the Middle East can be dangerous. We have ordered them to be pulled out. Then, we will see what happens," Trump told reporters in Washington.
Trump also said he would not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons. "They cannot have nuclear weapons, it is very clear. We will not allow that."
