White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated the upcoming Ukraine-Russia talks in Istanbul.
“We look forward to Russia and Ukraine participating in direct talks and discussions in Istanbul next week. We believe that this meeting will take place. President Trump has called on and encouraged the parties to sit down together and negotiate directly.
The President has clarified that he wants this conflict resolved at the negotiating table, not on the battlefield. He has made that clear to both leaders, both publicly and privately. We will let you know if the President intends to send a representative,” she said.
