Referring to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs Service Agency, bm.ge reported that starting May 15, Georgia finally banned the re-export of vehicles to Russian and Belarusian citizens.
The department's hotline explained that the changes apply to passenger cars and special equipment: bulldozers, excavators, graders, and tractors. Until now, re-exporting to Russia and Belarus has been prohibited, but citizens of these countries could formalize the export of cars from Georgia to third countries. Now, this possibility is excluded.
In Russia, the new restrictions are associated with journalistic investigations, which report that Georgia is being used as a transit route to circumvent sanctions. The Georgian government has repeatedly denied these publications, stating that the country observes all restrictions.
