Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that Pope Leo XIV had confirmed his willingness to host the next round of talks to end the war between Ukraine and Russia at the Vatican.
“Receiving the willingness of the Holy Father to host the talks at the Vatican was an occasion for the prime minister to express his deep gratitude for the unwavering peace efforts of Pope Leo XIV,” Meloni’s office said.
The newly elected pope said on May 14 that the Vatican could mediate in global conflicts without mentioning any specific conflict.
