Politico reports that Romanian President-elect Nicusor Dan has questioned the advisability of sending Romanian soldiers to the Ukrainian peacekeeping mission.
“Participating in the forces that guarantee peace in Ukraine is not appropriate. I think it would not be appropriate, given the existing tensions between Romania and Russia,” Dan said.
At the same time, he stressed that Romania is ready to deepen its support for Ukraine in other areas.
Dan also criticized former US President Donald Trump’s approach to the settlement of the war in Ukraine, noting that making concessions to Putin and accepting his unrealistic demands cannot guarantee a just peace.
