The international media reported that Spain is experiencing massive outages: mobile networks and the internet are down.
Since early May 20, major operators in Spain, including Movistar, Orange, Vodafone, O2, and others, have been experiencing a significant outage. Users have been unable to make calls, send messages, or use mobile internet.
The problems have affected Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville and other cities. Even the 112 emergency number was partially unavailable. In some regions, authorities have introduced emergency alternative numbers.
The outage was caused by an unsuccessful network update by the country's largest telecommunications operator, Telefónica. Engineers are already working to eliminate the consequences.
It should be noted that this is the second major incident in a month: in late April, a 10-hour power outage occurred in Spain and Portugal.
