EU and Britain are reloading relations

The European Union and the United Kingdom have reached a preliminary agreement on defense and security cooperation, fisheries, and youth mobility ahead of an EU-UK summit in London on Monday. EU officials said the deal would pave the way for British companies to participate in major EU defense contracts.

EU member state representatives in Brussels received the “Common Understanding” text, which is now being approved by all 27 EU member states.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Council President Antonio Costa will meet in London on Monday.

This will be the most significant review of Britain’s post-Brexit relationship, aimed at boosting trade and defense cooperation to boost European security and the British economy.
