Pope to celebrate Mass in the Sistine Chapel

The Vatican announced that Pope Leo XIV, who was recently elected, will celebrate Mass in the Sistine Chapel today with the cardinals who elected him.

On Sunday afternoon, he will recite the “Regina Coeli” prayer in St. Peter’s Basilica from the same balcony where he emerged to the world yesterday after his election.

“We share the joy of this moment,” said Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni. “We have heard his first words in St. Peter’s Square, words of peace that Jesus spoke after the Resurrection.”
