The United States is pressuring Israel to reach an agreement with Hamas in the coming days, ahead of a visit by former President Donald Trump to the Middle East, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported.
Washington has warned that Israel could face international isolation if an agreement is not reached.
Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, has met with the families of the hostages and publicly criticized the Israeli leadership.
Witkoff said, "The price for not ending the war has been paid so far by the hostages. Now the price will be high for Israel as well."
Witkoff reportedly demanded that his criticism of Prime Minister Netanyahu be carried to the press.
