"The US can no longer afford to subsidize European security." Waltz

White House National Security Advisor Mike Walz has said the US can no longer afford to subsidize its NATO allies. He added that Europeans must lead Ukraine's defense.

"The United States, with a $33 trillion debt, literally can no longer afford to subsidize European security, and we have to make a distinction between our Eastern European allies, such as Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and others," he said.

According to him, European countries must do their fair share to reach the previously announced threshold for collective security. Otherwise, it could affect their way of life and quality of life.

"Look at the problem with the Houthis in Yemen. "The vast majority of those ships go through the Red Sea to Europe, and when you have a situation where they haven't invested in their fleets to be able to manage or at least help us to a greater extent, then at some point it will affect their way of life, their trade, and their ability to maintain their economy," he added.
