The European Women's Football Championship starts today

The European Women's Football Championship kicks off in Switzerland today. The tournament is held every four years and is increasingly popular with both fans and sponsors. According to experts, Euro 2025 is expected to be very interesting and unpredictable.

The two bookmakers' favorites ahead of the tournament are England and Spain.

The English are the reigning European champions and are preparing to defend their title. The Spanish are the reigning world champions (having won the World Cup in 2023) and are dreaming of winning the second most crucial football trophy.

However, in the forty years of the current European Women's Championship format (founded in 1984), the Spanish national team has never won. In the last 28 years, it has not advanced beyond the quarter-finals.

According to various models for estimating the coefficients, the probability of the Spanish women winning can reach up to 25%.

If the women's La Furia Roja win, they will become only the second women's team in history to win the World Cup and European Championship back-to-back.

Only Germany has managed to achieve this so far, winning five major tournaments consecutively between 2001 and 2009: three European Championships and two World Championships.
