Radar Armenia sent a written request to the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the fact that we continue to witness, recently, often offensive statements and comments targeting the RA authorities in Russian state media, as well as by officials.
In response to the question "Apart from the recent public reference by RA Foreign Minister Mirzoyan, has the Armenian side expressed any attitude in this regard?", the department noted that the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also expressed dissatisfaction through diplomatic channels. The Russian Ambassador to Yerevan was summoned to the Foreign Ministry and handed over a statement.
Considering that the topic is undoubtedly at the center of attention of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia and is the subject of heated public discussions, we do not hide the contents of the statement from the citizens of the Republic of Armenia.
It expressed a strong protest against the openly unfriendly, often hostile propaganda against the Government of the Republic of Armenia in the mass media of the Russian Federation, which is actively fueled by the statements of some officials, deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the press and representatives of the expert community.
The statement emphasized that the offensive expressions heard live on Russian state television channels and the targeting of Armenian authorities' activities are unacceptable and undermine the positive results of recent high-level visits between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation.
The statement noted that the comments and statements of individual deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation regarding the legal actions taken by the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Armenia to prevent the attempted coup d’état have caused not only surprise but also indignation. According to these statements, the arrest is considered "another unfriendly step by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan."
Accordingly, such statements are not only absurd, since it is unclear how and why the prevention of a coup d’état is considered an unfriendly step, but also a gross interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Armenia. Moreover, the impression is created that such an information policy is being carried out purposefully to undermine democracy, legality, and constitutional order in the Republic of Armenia," the response says.
The Ministry called on its Russian counterparts to take immediate and effective measures to stop the above-mentioned unfriendly manifestations towards the Republic of Armenia.
