Sargis Khandanyan elected Chairman of the OSCE PA Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs

During the summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Sargis Khandanyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the RA NA and Head of the Armenian Delegation to the OSCE PA, was elected Chairman of the OSCE PA Committee on Democracy, Human Rights, and Humanitarian Affairs.

Upon assuming the position of Chairman of the Committee, Sargis Khandanyan noted, “In these difficult times, the mission of our Committee is more urgent than ever. The OSCE region is facing numerous and multifaceted challenges, including ongoing conflicts, human rights violations, and democratic regression. In these conditions, the OSCE PA must continue to serve as a platform for dialogue and action, based on multilateralism and effective parliamentary diplomacy.”

The Committee on Democracy, Human Rights, and Humanitarian Affairs is one of the three central committees of the OSCE PA. The Assembly’s summer session is taking place from June 29 to July 3 in Porto, Portugal.
