Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated, “Armenia must respect the right of Azerbaijanis to return to their ancestral homelands.”
“This is an important prerequisite for peace, reconciliation, and the establishment of human rights in the region,” Aliyev said in a message to participants in the International Symposium of Ombudsmen.
He noted that after the “deportations,” no Azerbaijanis remained on the territory of Armenia. “Historical justice demands ensuring the peaceful and safe return of these people to their homeland,” the message said.
