Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan met with the Hungarian National Assembly deputies representing national minorities.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia noted that strengthening relations between Armenia and Hungary is an important goal on the country's foreign policy agenda. Noting that the first resident embassy of Armenia will be opened in Budapest soon, Hakob Arshakyan expressed hope that Hungary will also establish a resident diplomatic representation in Yerevan.
The positive dynamics of bilateral relations were emphasized, as well as the effective use of the potential of parliamentary diplomacy from the perspective of mutually beneficial cooperation. In this context, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly highly appreciated the creation of friendship groups in the two countries' parliaments.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly noted that Armenia's four largest national minorities have representatives in the National Assembly, which allows them to raise and resolve community issues of concern.
"I am confident that based on shared history, Christian values, and respect for international law, we can achieve deeper to study and realize the potential in political dialogue, economic and energy sectors, both on bilateral and multilateral platforms," stated Hakob Arshakyan.
The RA NA Vice-President also presented the guests with regional developments and detailed the essence of the "Crossroads of Peace" project initiated by the RA Government. The ongoing negotiations on a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan were touched upon, and the immediate and safe return of Armenian hostages held in Baku was emphasized.
Nikoghos Akopyan, Speaker of the Armenian Autonomy of the Hungarian Parliament, and Aleksov Lyubomir, Speaker of the Serbian Autonomy, presented the scope of their activities and the issues of concern to national minorities.
