Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan touched upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations, noting that they are taking place in a bilateral format.
In response to a question about the effectiveness of the negotiations, Grigoryan reminded us that in that format, the parties had already managed to agree on the agreement's text. "At least in the final intensive stage, when the text was being agreed upon, the negotiations were conducted bilaterally."
The Security Council Secretary said Russia has long played the role of mediator.
At the same time, according to him, one should not forget that Armenia is not alone in the negotiations. There is also a second party, Azerbaijan, which must agree to Russia's mediation. To the observation that Baku is not alone in the negotiations, and Ankara, which presents its demands to Yerevan, is acting on its behalf, the Security Council Secretary responded: "And whose side will Russia be on? We will discuss it as soon as you answer that question."
