"The world is once again facing threats to peace": President

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan sent a message on the occasion of Victory and Peace Day, May 9

"Dear compatriots,

Today, we celebrate May 9, Victory and Peace Day.

On this day, with deep respect and gratitude, we bow to the memory of those who dedicated their lives to the just struggle against fascism. They fought not only for the freedom and dignified future of their country but also for the freedom and dignified future of all humanity.

The Armenian people made an invaluable contribution to that historic victory. Hundreds of thousands of Armenians fought on various fronts as part of the armies of the Soviet Union and the Allies, waged a relentless struggle, and demonstrated self-sacrifice and heroism.

The victory was built with their blood and sweat, thanks to which humanity overcame the devastating ordeal of fascism with great effort.

Today, when the world is again faced with threats to peace, the lessons of the Great Victory are even more relevant. Those tragic pages of history remind us that peace is a value that must be constantly preserved, protected, and strengthened.

May the feat and memory of our veterans be eternally alive and become our guide and source of inspiration.

May the peaceful sky above our people never darken.

Happy Victory and Peace Day!
