A new moon, just 10 kilometers in diameter, has been discovered around Uranus. Despite its small size, researchers consider this discovery to be significant: even NASA's famous Voyager 2 instrument, which flew by Uranus about 40 years ago, overlooked this super-exclusive "little one".
The new moon, which was first observed on February 2 with the help of a space telescope, has become the 29th moon orbiting the icy giant. It orbits the planet at a distance of about 56 thousand kilometers, in a nearly circular orbit.
The head of the study, Mariam El-Moutamid, notes: "It is small, but it has enormous significance. This is a discovery that even Voyager 2 missed."
