On August 23, there will be a rare phenomenon in the sky - the "Black Moon". Although it will not be visible, as the Moon remains invisible during the new moon phase, the event is interesting for its uniqueness.
On that day, the Moon will be in the new moon phase in the constellation Leo, north of the Sun. "Black Moon" is not an official term; this is what is called the unusual coincidence of the phases of the new Moon. In one case, it is the third new Moon of the season, when there are four of them. This time it is just that. Such events occur once every 33 months. In the other case, it is the second new Moon in a calendar month, which will only happen on August 31, 2027.
Unlike a supermoon or an eclipse, this time you will not see any changes in the sky. During the new Moon, the Moon is lost in the light of the Sun. However, on the evenings of August 24-25, its delicate and beautiful glow will be visible on the western horizon.
