The Verge reports that Netflix is testing a TikTok-style short video feed in its mobile app and will roll out the feature "in the coming weeks."
The new feed will allow users to find the content they're interested in more quickly. Users can jump straight to a movie or TV series from a video, add it to their "Watch Later" list, or send it to a friend. The controls will be located in the lower right corner of the screen, just like TikTok.
Netflix will also introduce a new artificial intelligence-powered search engine in its app. Now, you can search not by specific titles but by conversational phrases, such as "I want something scary" or "something fun about life."
This feature will initially only be available on iOS devices. The user will need to manually enable it to activate it. The ChatGPT model developed by OpenAI will power the new search engine.
These innovations are part of Netflix's broader strategy to align the service with how people think and talk about entertainment.
