Google Messages is rolling out a new sensitive content warning feature on Android, The Insider reports. If you enable this feature, nude images in incoming messages will be automatically filtered out until the user decides to view them.
Adults can turn this feature on or off as they wish.
It will be on by default for teens ages 13-17, but it can be turned off in Google Account settings.
The feature cannot be turned off for children under 13, but parents can manage it through the Family Link app.
Users can view the nude image, delete it without viewing it, or block the sender. After viewing, the image can be covered up again with a “blur” effect.
In addition, senders of sensitive content will receive a warning in advance that sending a nude image or accidentally forwarding it may be risky. The user must confirm their decision before sending it.
